At the CES 2025 tech show in Las Vegas, Roborock unveiled a groundbreaking vacuum cleaner: the Roborock Saros Z70. It’s being hailed as the world’s first mass-produced vacuum cleaner equipped with an intelligent robotic arm.
The Z70 uses artificial intelligence (AI) to do more than just vacuum and mop — it can actually identify and pick up small objects, like dirty socks, shoes, and towels, weighing under 300 grams. No longer will you need to worry about tossing your socks into the laundry basket, as this robot can do it for you.
Powered by AI, the Z70 is able to recognize objects on the floor, avoid obstacles, and move them to designated places. A system of sensors and cameras allows the robot to map its environment and detect items like socks or stray towels that need to be tidied up. Users can control the robot’s tasks via an app, where they can set parameters such as specific locations for items to be placed or when to schedule cleaning tasks.
Ruben Rodriguez from Roborock explained the significance of AI in this innovation: “Without artificial intelligence and machine learning, the robotic arm is just a robotic arm. But thanks to machine learning, it’s able to recognize objects on the ground, walk around them, pick them up, and know where to go and where to place them.”
In addition to object recognition, the Z70’s AI helps it avoid common household obstacles like loose cables. With machine learning, it can identify up to 108 different types of obstacles around the home, ensuring it can navigate safely without causing disruption. This makes the Z70 even more intelligent and efficient than standard robotic vacuum cleaners, which, according to Rodriguez, are much more complicated than drones due to the cluttered spaces they operate in.
While the Z70 promises to be a major advancement in home cleaning, Rodriguez humorously pointed out that even AI-powered robots sometimes miss the mark: “Even a robot cleaner fails to pick up dirty socks, sometimes.”
Nonetheless, with its combination of AI and robotics, the Roborock Saros Z70 brings a new level of convenience and smart cleaning to the market.
