At CES 2025, the spotlight was on robotic vacuums with mechanical arms, and Dreame, a key competitor to Roborock, showcased its own take on this technology. While Roborock’s new flagship vacuum with a mechanical arm caught the attention of many, Dreame’s model promises even greater capabilities, setting it apart from the competition.
Dreame’s robot vacuum features a mechanical arm that can lift objects weighing up to 500 grams (17.6 ounces), nearly double the lifting capacity of Roborock’s Saros Z70. But its functionality doesn’t end there. The arm can also utilize various tools to scrub stubborn stains and more effectively capture dust during cleaning tasks. This added versatility makes Dreame’s model an impressive contender in the market.
Additionally, the robot comes equipped with retractable legs, enabling it to navigate small obstacles and steps, much like the Dreame X50 Ultra, which can climb surfaces up to 2.4 inches. After using the arm or tools, the robot autonomously retrieves them and returns them to its charging dock. According to Dreame representatives, the vacuum will also be able to accommodate more tools upon its official release.
One standout feature of the Dreame robot is its ability to pick up and move objects using visual recognition. For instance, it can detect toys and move them to a kids’ room, or socks to the laundry area.
However, there’s a catch: While Roborock’s Saros Z70 will be available in the U.S. in the first half of 2025, Dreame’s robot vacuum with the mechanical arm is still in the concept stage. Though Dreame has hinted at a potential 2025 launch, the technology is still being developed, and demonstrations at CES mainly focused on showcasing the robot’s range of motion and the deployment process of the arm.
