Anglers Rally for Appleton Teen Injured in Power Washer Accident

Organizers of the statewide fishing tournament, “A Cast for Hope,” have expressed gratitude to over a hundred anglers who participated in raising funds for Brett Jedwabny, an Appleton teenager recovering from a power washer accident.

Fifteen-year-old Brett Jedwabny remains hospitalized in Milwaukee, but over the weekend, the Appleton North High School fishing team, of which Brett is a proud member, joined forces with anglers across Wisconsin. Their collective effort aimed not only to catch trophy fish but also to raise over $2,700 to help cover Brett’s increasing medical expenses.

Brett’s aunt, Sara Perock, spearheaded the tournament after visiting him in the hospital. She was inspired to honor his passion for fishing through this event.

“It is a blessing because it doesn’t just stop after the accident,” said Perock. “This is a really long road ahead of us, and the support from everyone here, especially these young teenage boys, is incredible. They have such a deep passion and love for Brett and are committed to continuing this support.”

Perock praised the overwhelming community support demonstrated through “A Cast for Hope.”
