This year, Roborock introduced three new models in their upper-mid tier QRevo line: the Curv, Edge, and Slim. While each of these models shares advanced features, they cater to different preferences and needs when it comes to design and functionality. The Curv and Edge are nearly identical in performance, with the main difference being the design of their docking stations. The Slim, on the other hand, offers a shorter profile, allowing it to fit under more furniture, but sacrifices some suction power and bin capacity to achieve this sleek design.
Affordability and Performance Trade-offs
Among these models, the QRevo Slim is the most budget-friendly, priced at $1,000, compared to the $1,600 Curv and $1,300 Edge. However, despite its higher price, the Curv quickly became a standout in the robot vacuum market due to its impressive features and performance. It’s especially effective during winter months when floors are more prone to muddy paw prints and debris.
Design and Docking Station Features
One of the first things I noticed about the Curv was its compact docking station. Unlike the towering Dreame L40, which stands nearly two feet tall, the Curv’s docking station is a modest foot in height. The soft, curved design of the dock differentiates it from typical blocky models, offering a more aesthetically pleasing appearance for those looking for a smoother look in their home.
The dock is lightweight and easy to move, and it comes with two water containers—one for dirty water and one for clean water. Setting up the device was seamless, and it paired effortlessly with the Roborock app on the first attempt. However, one downside is that the design doesn’t include space for cleaning fluid, which is common in many modern docking stations. Users will need to manually add the cleaning fluid to the clean water each time they refill.
Suction Power and Innovative Features
Beneath the sleek exterior, the Curv boasts some significant innovations in its vacuum design. The silicone bristles, which play a crucial role in debris collection, are a standout feature. Unlike other models with multiple sweeping arms, the Curv reduces the sweep arms from three to two, positioning them on a protruding limb that extends to hug walls. This innovative design enhances its ability to clean close to walls, ensuring more thorough cleaning.
The Curv also features magnetic mop heads, a unique design that activates the mop heads when the robot is in use. Upon returning to its dock, the mop heads are released via magnets for easy cleaning. To further improve maintenance, these mop heads are detachable and can be machine-washed, making it even easier to keep the robot in optimal condition.
