The Homekane Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Cordless is a portable, rechargeable, and bagless vacuum designed for both home and car use. Priced affordably, it’s lightweight and easy to maneuver, but during testing, it struggled with cleaning tasks that require more power, making it suitable only for light, everyday cleanups.
Weighing just 1.2 lbs (560g) and measuring 13.4 x 3.2 x 3.5 inches, the vacuum is exceptionally portable and simple to handle, making it an ideal choice for quick jobs, like cleaning up crumbs from a couch or dusting off car interiors. The 550ml dust cup holds enough debris for a few cleaning sessions, though emptying it can be a bit fiddly. To remove the dust cup, you must detach the entire front of the vacuum, including the filter—an inconvenience that’s typical for budget-friendly handheld vacuums. However, it did offer a chance to regularly shake out debris collected on the filter.
The design also has a few quirks, such as the dust cup release button, which sits just above the power switch on the handle and can be easily triggered by mistake. Fortunately, this only happened to me once during testing. The vacuum also includes a washable HEPA filter, which is a nice touch for maintaining air quality, though it requires removal every time you empty the dust cup, adding a small step to the cleaning process.
Accessories provided with the Homekane vacuum include an extension hose, a flat nozzle, and a small brush nozzle—though they feel somewhat flimsy, they are effective for various tasks. The brush nozzle was particularly useful for vacuuming upholstery and pet hair. The hose attachment, while functional, lacks flexibility and may not stand up to extended use, but performed well during testing.
Performance, however, is where this vacuum falls short. While it handles larger debris—like cereal or biscuit crumbs—reasonably well, it struggles with finer particles, such as smaller crumbs or flour. For more thorough cleaning, I found myself reaching for a more powerful model to finish the job. For quick pickups, however, it gets the job done, albeit at a basic level.
The Homekane Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Cordless is available for £37.99 in the UK, including the charging dock and accessories. However, this price is relatively high considering its performance compared to other mini vacuums. In the US, the vacuum is priced at a much more reasonable $15.99 without the dock, making it a much more compelling option for those on a tight budget. Replacement HEPA filters are also available, though they cost £15.88 for a pack of two in the UK, which is almost half the price of the vacuum itself.
Charging the vacuum takes about three hours via USB-C, and Homekane claims it offers 25-30 minutes of runtime on a full charge. The charging dock, which holds the vacuum handle-first, is space-efficient but somewhat inconvenient as the charging indicator is difficult to see when the dock is placed against a wall.
Noise levels are typical for this type of vacuum, with a sound measurement of 80 dB—comparable to city traffic—so it may not be the best choice for noise-sensitive users. Still, for its price and size, it’s within an acceptable range for a compact vacuum.
In summary, the Homekane Handheld Vacuum Cleaner Cordless is a practical and affordable solution for light cleaning tasks, offering good portability and ease of use. However, its lack of suction power limits its versatility, making it best suited for small messes and occasional use.
