Technology has increasingly made its way into our everyday gadgets, and home appliances are no exception. From smart fridges that track groceries to laundry machines with customizable cleaning settings, the convenience of technology continues to evolve. One area where we’re seeing significant innovation is in cleaning devices, particularly mops, with more tech-driven solutions emerging to make our cleaning routines easier and more efficient.
Dyson led the charge last year with its G1 Wash system, a two-part mop that uses fresh water to clean while simultaneously vacuuming up dirty water and debris. Now, Ryobi is introducing its own take on this concept with the 18V One+ HP Wet and Dry Floor Hard Cleaner, which features a similar two-tank system. The cleaner uses one tank for fresh water (or water mixed with a cleaning solution) and another to collect dirty water and debris.
As you move the Ryobi cleaner across the floor, it mops and wipes, suctioning up the dirt into the waste tank. What’s particularly convenient is its self-cleaning feature, which can be activated in just 60 seconds, cutting down on the effort needed to maintain the device.
According to Andrew Cameron, General Manager of Product at TTi, which owns Ryobi, the cleaner is designed to save time and provide a deeper clean without the hassle. “We’re giving households a reliable, time-saving solution that’s designed to keep up with busy lives, so Australians can keep their floors spotless without spending hours vacuuming, then mopping and waiting for floors to dry,” he said.
While Ryobi’s design is similar to Dyson’s, it brings a unique feature: compatibility with the Ryobi One+ battery system. This means that if you already own any Ryobi One+ tools, such as a lawnmower or garden equipment, the same battery can be used in the floor cleaner, extending its runtime beyond the 35-minute limit. Additionally, the battery in the Floor Cleaner can be swapped with other Ryobi gadgets for added convenience.
At $699, the Ryobi Wet and Dry Floor Cleaner is priced approximately $300 less than Dyson’s $999 G1 Wash, making it an appealing alternative. The cleaner is now available at Bunnings across Australia, offering a smart, budget-friendly solution for keeping floors clean with minimal effort.
