IDC: Robot Vacuum Market to Grow 11.2% in 2024, 4 Top 5 Chinese Makers

Zhitong Finance APP learned that IDC’s “Global Smart Home Device Market Quarterly Tracking Report, Q4 2024” shows that the global smart sweeping robot market will ship 20.603 million units in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 11.2%; annual sales will reach US$9.31 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.7%; the average unit price will rise by 7.6% to US$452, and high-end upgrades will continue to deepen. Among them, the global sweeping robot market shipped 5.918 million units in the fourth quarter, a year-on-year increase of 7.8%, and the growth rate slowed down compared with the first three quarters. With the intensive launch of flagship new products equipped with AI navigation, robotic arms and other technologies by leading manufacturers in early 2025, this year’s industry market will accelerate its evolution towards intelligence and integration.

Global Market

In 2024, Stone Technology ranked first in both volume and amount in the world, surpassing Irobot for the first time in terms of shipments, with a global sales market share of 16% and a sales market share of 22.3%, and a year-on-year increase of 20.7% in shipments. In the Nordic, Turkish, German, French, and Korean markets, the advantages are more obvious, and the volume and amount have been ranked first for many consecutive quarters. Stone’s overseas expansion gives priority to developed countries with high demand for smart home products, and it attaches equal importance to online and offline, and research and development and sales are simultaneously strengthened. Its multi-model products cover the low, medium, and high-end markets respectively, and the new flagship robot arm products promote the industry to accelerate the upgrade to embodied robots.

Irobot

Irobot will still be the number one in sales in Canada, Japan, and the United States in 2024. The Western European and Asia-Pacific markets have been collectively impacted by Chinese manufacturers, with global shipments falling by 6.7% and market share falling by 2.6%. Chinese manufacturers have continued to squeeze Irobot’s market space in recent quarters with their high cost-effectiveness and rapid product iteration rhythm. Its localization layout in emerging markets is relatively weak, and its product line is relatively single, which may pose a certain constraint on long-term growth.

Ecovacs (603486.SH)

Ecovacs will continue to rank first in the Chinese market in 2024, but competition has intensified, and its high-end market has been impacted by Stone, Yunjing, and Dream. From the perspective of product layout, in 2024, the mid-range product matrix will be improved mainly through new products such as T30. Constant pressure running water, as a typical product upgrade highlight in 2024, also consolidates its position in the high-end market to a certain extent. Ecovacs channels and categories work together, and the number of flagship stores in overseas markets is relatively leading. Its rich product lines such as Tineco floor washing machines, lawn mowing robots, window cleaning robots, air purifiers and other products help build its global brand image.

Xiaomi

Xiaomi consolidates the basic market of the mid-range market through supply chain integration, forming a certain difference with the strategic positioning of its competitors. Xiaomi has formed a unique OEM collaborative system by integrating the resources of ecological chain enterprises. In the Middle East, Africa and Latin American markets, Xiaomi still has certain advantages, and its shipments account for about 15% of the local market share.

Chaimi

Chaimi’s global shipments in 2024 will increase by 36.6% year-on-year. Its growth momentum comes from continuing to focus on technological breakthroughs and differentiated functional upgrades, and strengthening the corner cleaning ability through ‌bionic robotic arm technology‌ to solve the pain points of hair entanglement and dead corner cleaning‌. Overseas market sales still account for more than 60% of Zhuimi’s global sales, focusing on the layout of Southwest Europe and Asia-Pacific markets, and actively building a high-end sweeper brand image with an average product price of over US$650.

Chinese market

In 2024, China’s sweeping robot market will ship 5.389 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.7%. In the fourth quarter, stimulated by the “national subsidy” policy, shipments reached 1.75 million units, a year-on-year increase of 28.2%. The “national subsidy” stimulus drove the average price of product shipments to rise, and the share of mid-to-high-end products continued to increase in the second half of the year. With the continuous improvement of offline store layout and online marketing, Yunjing’s shipments increased by 82.3% year-on-year, leading the industry in growth rate. “National subsidies” put forward higher requirements on manufacturers’ installation service response efficiency and channel coordination capabilities in the sinking market, and also caused concerns about overdraft of demand in advance, which may put pressure on growth in the second half of 2025.

IDC China senior analyst Zhao Siquan believes that in 2025, the global sweeping robot market will rely on the breakthrough upgrade of humanoid robot navigation algorithms and motion control technology, and through the deep integration of AI large models and 3D visual perception capabilities, achieve more efficient adaptation to complex environments and intelligent cleaning decision-making system construction, and promote product iteration in the direction of “embodied intelligence + whole-house autonomous cleaning”. It will form an ecological synergy with window cleaning robots, air purifiers, floor scrubbers and other equipment to accelerate the construction of cleaning solutions covering all home scenarios.
