Man Brings Washing Machine on Train, People React

by BERG

How did they bring this on board? A few days ago, a person on a Taiwan Railways intercity train saw someone using a cart to bring a washing machine into the train compartment. Netizens exclaimed that it was too outrageous. How did they get into the station in the first place? Moreover, such a large washing machine might block other people from entering and exiting, and even violate the regulations for carrying carry-on luggage.

Reporter Lan Tingling: “Although the seats on Taiwan Railways’ section trains are relatively spacious, some people actually used a cart to bring a washing machine onto the train and placed it next to the door.”

Recently, people posted on social media platforms, saying that it was the first time they saw someone bring a washing machine onto a train next to the door, sparking heated discussions among netizens. Some were curious about how they got into the station, while others questioned whether this was beyond the norm.

Citizens: “I think it’s quite exaggerated, because I think his behavior has already hindered the rights of other passengers, because it’s actually quite bad, blocking his way and his way out.”

Citizens: “Washing machine? How did he move it? This is not a way to save money. If there are many passengers, it will be too inconvenient.”

According to Taiwan Railway regulations, each person can carry two pieces of luggage, the length of one piece cannot exceed 150 cm, and the total length, width and height cannot exceed 220 cm; the high-speed rail regulations are the same, but there is also a 40 kg weight limit; and the MRT is slightly different, the maximum length is 165 cm, and the total is also 220 cm.

The general upright washing machine has a washing capacity of 13 kg and a length, width and height of 54x95x54 cm. The maximum length does not exceed the total length of 203 cm. If you really want to bring it on the train, it is actually OK. However, the capacity is 17 kg, and the length, width and height are 64x104x67, a total of 238 cm, which has exceeded the limit.

The Taiwan Railway also stated that if passengers have needs, they can actually handle the luggage transportation business. After all, if it violates the regulations, the Taiwan Railway can refuse to transport and refund the ticket to avoid affecting the rights and interests of others.
