Health Canada said in the notice that the product “contains a high-current adapter that may overheat, posing a burn and fire hazard.”
The affected product is the Aipu Seagull Pro ZT6001 Cordless Robotic Pool Vacuum, model ZT6001. The notice said the product was sold through Best Buy, Amazon and Tanguay.
A total of 2,606 vacuums were sold in Canada from July 2023 to April 2024. Officials said that as of March 27, the company had received one report of a vacuum catching fire in Canada while charging, but no injuries or property damage were caused.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pool vacuum and contact Aipu for a free replacement Aipu Scuba S1 Robotic Pool Cleaner,” Health Canada said.
“Aipu will provide consumers with a free return label so that they can send the recalled product back to Aipu.”
