Patio moss can quickly mar the appearance of outdoor spaces, posing both aesthetic and safety concerns due to its slippery nature. Experts have revealed an effective alternative to pressure washers for combating this issue, emphasizing simplicity and affordability.
Moss growth is a common headache for gardeners, spreading across patios, lawns, and fences alike. While pressure washers are a popular choice for removing moss, improper use can inadvertently damage patio surfaces.
According to Rafi Friedman, CEO at Coastal Luxury Outdoors, and Delah Gomasi, managing director at cleaning company MaidForYou, white vinegar offers a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution. Delah highlighted the efficacy of a mixture comprising 65 percent water and 35 percent vinegar. This mixture is applied directly to moss-infested areas, left to sit until the moss browns, and then removed with a sturdy bristled brush.
“The process is straightforward,” Delah explained. “Spray the solution on your patio, deck, or garden pavers, allow it to work over a few days, and then gently scrub away the moss.”
This method not only effectively removes moss but also avoids the potential damage associated with pressure washers. By opting for vinegar, homeowners can maintain their outdoor spaces with minimal cost and effort, ensuring both cleanliness and safety.
In summary, the use of white vinegar presents a practical alternative for tackling patio moss, offering an accessible solution that promotes eco-conscious cleaning practices.
