Aebi Schmidt UK has introduced its most advanced street sweeper model to date, the Street King 600, developed in partnership with Volvo and SM UK. This latest addition to the street sweeper market is mounted on a Volvo FMX 4×2 rigid chassis, equipped with full air suspension, and boasts a robust three-star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) rating.
The Street King 600 integrates an array of factory-installed safety features, including front short-range assist, side collision avoidance support, and collision warning with emergency braking. These advanced systems utilize camera and radar technology to detect potential hazards and engage the brakes when necessary. Additional standard safety measures on the FMX include driver alert support, intelligent speed assist, lane-keeping support, a reversing camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
In collaboration with SM UK, a commercial vehicle safety specialist, Aebi Schmidt has further enhanced the safety profile of the sweeper. The vehicle is equipped with forward-facing, nearside, offside, and reverse cameras, as well as two cameras monitoring the SK660’s sweeper brushes. These camera feeds are accessible via a 4G live view, remote access, or downloadable content.
At the rear of the sweeper, SM UK’s reverse smart autonomous braking system is installed. This system detects objects or vulnerable road users (VRUs) in the danger zone behind the vehicle, issuing an audible warning if necessary. Should the driver fail to respond, the system automatically applies the brakes, bringing the vehicle to a complete stop for three seconds.
The sweeper also features front and rear strobe lights, a reverse alarm, and SM UK’s red zone system, which illuminates the surrounding area to ensure safety for everyone in the vicinity.
