If you’re searching for the best robot vacuum on the market, there’s an impressive array of choices available. Numerous brands have emerged, each offering its unique spin on this convenient technology.
Recently, I had the opportunity to test the EZVIZ RE4 Plus, a budget-friendly robot vacuum equipped with a self-emptying base and a LiDAR mapping system. Notably, it comes at a more accessible price point compared to many competitors.
So, how does it perform? Let’s take a closer look. Despite its lower price, the RE4 Plus doesn’t skimp on features; it’s packed with practical functionalities that enhance its usability.
Starting with the docking station, it offers automatic emptying, which means you won’t have to manually dispose of the contents after each cleaning session. The dock is equipped with a sizable 4-liter dust bag, allowing for up to 90 days of use before needing to be emptied.
The vacuum itself boasts impressive specifications. Its LiDAR mapping system enables it to intelligently perceive its surroundings, constructing a detailed map of your space. This technology allows the RE4 Plus to navigate confidently and effectively avoid obstacles in its path.
Additionally, the mapping system ensures the vacuum recognizes the location of its dock. After completing a cleaning cycle, it autonomously returns to the dock for self-emptying and recharging.
The EZVIZ RE4 Plus also features surface detection technology, allowing it to identify different floor types, such as carpets. When it detects a carpeted area, it automatically adjusts the suction power to ensure an effective clean. The vacuum can also sense potential drops and will send a notification to your phone if it becomes stuck.
Upon initial setup, the EZVIZ RE4 Plus requires a LiDAR scan of your home. During this process, the vacuum moves around to create a detailed representation of its environment. While this can take some time, it’s a necessary step, and it’s fascinating to see a 2D map of your home in the app afterward. Once the mapping is complete, you can use the app to customize settings, including designating no-go zones.
However, I found that adding new rooms to the existing map can be challenging. After isolating a room for testing, I encountered some difficulties in coaxing the vacuum through doorways to map additional spaces. Once the vacuum successfully navigates the area, it begins to scan and integrate the new spaces into its map. Once mapped, these areas will be automatically included in future cleaning sessions.
Overall, the EZVIZ RE4 Plus impresses with its feature set and user-friendly design, making it a strong contender for those seeking an affordable robot vacuum.
